From house to house, to announce the gospel of Jesus as the Christ.
act 1:12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from
Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
1:13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter,
and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son
of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary
the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
The New Testament tells us that the first gathering of Christians in a room . What they did was prayer and
supplication to God.
2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to
house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily
such as should be saved.
At that time, the Jews held worship in the temple of God. Christians either went to the temple, or had home
gathering. They did breaking of bread from home to home. Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating,
Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this
is my body. 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all
of it; 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of
sins.
Christians gathered at home to break bread and have meals, just like a family. Praising God, the lord then
added more saved ones to church.
There are more verses in bible about Christian gathering in the home.
Acts 5:42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
8:3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women
committed them to prison.
Romans 16:5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my well-beloved Epaenetus, who is the
firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.
Colossians 4:15 Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his
house.
Philemon1:2 And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the church in thy house:
From above verses, Paul mentioned house, that church, which was the Christian family gatherings.
Through the Bible, the early church began in the home. The gathering content were prayer, praising, braking
cake, sharing, Today's church is in the church building, which holds preaching, singing, dancing, braking
cake, donate money.
If one is loving Lord and believe in God, there is no matter in any external form of the gathering. We only
follow the bible's form of gathering.
